Well, my K130 is fried again, and it's been reconed 3 times. I'd like to get a BW. Which one is best for the Webb, and where can I get one? Thanks in advance.

Byron Walcher has the total anwser to this question. He's a good player with a good set of ears and has just done a lot of expermenting with speakers in the Webb amps.
You may want to ask someone for his email address here. I don't have it but I think he's on the forum.
I trust him,

bobbe

I have a BW in one of my Webbs and it works great. Just a standard 1501-4. It does sound different than the E-130-4 I had in there though. I doubt you'll get a JBL sound without a real JBL, however.

Herb, I think the "1504 B W" was the conclusion that Byron came to also.
A great speaker,

After researching, I want a 1501-4 SB. Bobbe, do you sell these? I'll talk to my local Peavey dealer later this week, but if you've got 'em, I'll deal with you.

US Speaker has the 1502s, but nowhere do I see 1501s or 1504s available. Any other possible sources?

Michael, I have tried all these speakers mentioned here and others as well. My own choice is the PV 1203-4. I find it to be a sweeter sounding speaker than the 1501-4 which I have in a Session 400. I have the 1203 in my Webb 614E and my Evans SE 200. I dont venture much to the "Dark Side" (C6) but the 1203 has plenty of bottom end for those who do. I did have a JBL K130 in my Webb originally but never liked the sound at all...IP

I put a BW 1501-4 in my Webb 6-14E I played out with it yesterday and it sounded great. LIke Herb said...it will not sound like a JBL unless it is a JBL.

FWIW, I put the JBL in my NV 400 and I am happy with that sound as well.

the BW 1504 is not considered a speaker for steel but I'm using one in a LTD and like the warmth and clarity, I'm probably the only guy using a 1504 but was pleasntly surprised it sounded so good...

Jim, I also have a 1504-4 BW in my Peavey 115 cabinet which I use. Even though it is used mostly for horn loaded enclosures, it makes a very good Steel Speaker to my ears.

I ordered a 1501-4 from my local dealer today. Thanks, all. I'll get the k130 reconed for a spare. My local speaker repair will do an "aftermarket" recone for $100, so it probable won't be like new, but I've had it since 1978.

O.K. .................

Listen to me !!!!

Whatever amp you have,or whatever speaker device you are useing,

Almost all speaker devices is going to deliver about 100 to 125 watts of power to the ear !!! Now, shoud you push it past that number, you need to look at mutiply power-amps and such used by the public audio company's and how they do it. Our Comsumer amps and such do not have the voice-coil abilities to produce 500 to 1,000 watts needed to process the audio for large number of listners.

Bottom line here is:

If the sound needed is above the clipping of your amp(and you know what that is), You should let the P.A. system handle the needed audio sound. Now, while you may not be up in the mix as much as you want to be,It's much better than paying $125.00 to $200.00 for a new speaker for your amp !!!

Bill
