Brad,
As you know already I'm a big fan of your product, and I know longer carry the tube pre with me.
However here is my question?

Could you use the Box in another place in the chain except its normal spot, maybe even use two, another one on the end before going into the amp?
THANKS IN ADVANCE

Not speaking for Brad by anymeans...... but I would think that if your were to place the SGBB anywhere else in the chain except right after the pickup, it would really defeat the intended purpose of the unit.

The key here is that the Pickup see the tube before anything else in the chain.

anyway, my $.02

Tim, you kind of nailed it. But honestly, the BB han handle a huge range of signal levels so really it would work fine as a tube stage at just about any stage in the signal chain. But, Tim points out that there is something extra special when the actual coil of the pickup directly drives the grid of the tube in the BB. There is something that a pickup does when it's in direct relationship with a tube and not a solid-state device. There is a liveliness, a dimensional depth, a harmonic richness, and a high frequency sweetness that is way maximized when the pickup and tube are "seeing" eachother.

BRAD,
I was just thinking of adding another one at the end of the chain since im selling my tube pre.
wasn't really thinking of moving the first box.
As it is I have 2 tube units in the chain and thought about replacing my tube pre.

So again Brad, have you ever tried another box like after the effex unit and just before the amp.
thats what i had in mind.as a matter of fact if it worked, i would just mount it in the back of my FSK.
I ve always been a rack guy until that amp hit the market.

Randy, the Black Box would work fine in pretty much any position. It could go before the amp input carrying guitar signal level, or it should also work well in the FX loop carrying line level. I can't see why it wouldn't help to further inject even more tube tone into that setup.

Even though I explained how the Box does something extra special when it's coupled with a pickup, it is still a dual tube stage so the sonic benefits are there no matter where it's placed. I hope that answers your question.

Thanks,
Brad
