This issue is so subjective as to be the cause of insanity. I found that, after I put the mod into my NV400, the settings presented in the NV400 manual (the Factory original) were altogether inappropriate for me.
You gotta season it to taste and if it's tied down paint it. |

I played through the NV-400's for a long time and always liked the sound I got. My settings on the Nv-400's are close to what I use now on one of Nv-1000 amps. Shift > 800 Mid > about 7:00 Presence > about 2:00 Lows (Bass) > about in between 2 and 3:00 Highs > around 1:00 Reverb > if using delay > about 9:00 if no delay about 12 to 1:00. Of course I use the XR-16 pick ups on my guitars and that products a lot of highs so you may want to look at what kind of p/u's your guitar has on it. |

If you did, you're probably totally "cornfused" by now! So, I guess it won't do any more harm to try these!
Pre~Gain 5, Low +6dB, Mid –7½dB, Shift 800Hz, High +3dB, Presence +3dB, Rev. 5, Master 10. Or, if you want to sound like Paul F. set the Low on ±0dB. (Just wishful~thinking!)

Gary there is something in your chain that is causing you problems. If none of these setting turn you on let's address the other pieces of your setup.

Hi, Larry . I have played a 1976 Fender Vibrosonic with the Factory Jbl. since 1976 and
i suppose i'm looking for a sweet sound like it is out of my Peavey amp and at this time i havn't found it . The Peavey sounds ok when i use my rack with it but i'm trying to get a Fender sound from it and i can't . I had a Reverb ''mod '' kit installed in it and it did sound somewhat better . Maybe i'm looking for more than i should . Thanks for everyones input
i do appreciate it . Gary . |

Unfortunately the EQ knobs can't make your Peavey SS amp sound like a Fender tube rig no matter where you set them. |
