Goodrich Model LDR7 - no POT and no Wall Wart:

  • Finally, a potless volume pedal with no plug-in power supply (that means automatic worldwide compatibility and NO more Wall-Warts!).

  • NEW from Goodrich: a BATTERY-operated LDR!

  • The new pedal includes the equivalent of the popular Match Box 7A with its impedance-matching circuitry, as well as tone and volume controls.

  • The new system is called "LDR7" and consists of 2 units (known as LDR7-1, which clamps on the leg of your steel guitar, & the pedal itself, LDR7-2). These 2 units will work ONLY as a mated pair.

  • Both units are battery-operated. But WAIT. Battery life is a full year* or more. And, at the end of this time, batteries can be replaced with new ones in less than 2 minutes. This eliminates the plug-in power supply.

  • *9-volt battery life is based on 5 hours per day 5 days a week. An absolutely noise-free circuit with no internal moving parts makes this the ultimate volume control system.

  • One-year warranty.

Sounds like a great approach.

Will I need to put a second mortgage on my steel guitar to afford it ?

According to the list price posted, you will need to take out a 2nd mortgage (at least my opinion of the price).

I realize everyone is in business to make money but items could be more realistically priced (and I'm referring to the MSRP). I notice the list price on the new MatchBro is sky high too

Soon all these DOBRO sounds and other new sounds will be available in software only. Like the free downloadable sounds for the PodXT. It is just a matter of time.
I'll be waiting
