Who makes the Rat distortion unit like Joe Wright uses? It is so clean sounding and doesn't seem to make a lot of noise when it is on and not being used. I don't really need one very often but would like to maybe have one just in case I need one. Thanks.

You can get them at at most good music stores or online at Musicians Friend, Music123, etc. Best distortion unit I ever owned.

I haven't tried one but I hear the "Distortion Factory" by Digitech is very good as it has about 6 or 7 of the classic/vintage distortion effects built in it including the RAT,DOD 250, Tube Screamer, Big Muff etc. |

Hey Larry,I had a RAT back in the 70's that sounded great, but because I wasn't playin much that I needed it for, I let it slip away. Then in the late 80's I bought a new one,and it didn't sound as good so I sold it.Now I have since heard of a guy who can make the new ones sound even better than the originals.Check it out..Robert Keeley Electronics.you can google it..IMHO they are the best distortion of all.Get R Done..P.J. |

The Keeley modified Rats are absolutely perfect. Though I really haven't got any plans to use mine again now that I have a Bosstone- wow is all I can say. Best sounding fuzz I have heard in years! |

I agree %100 Keith.I too have an old Boss Tone..Great for fuzz, but I have trouble trying to back it down when I don't want HARD fuzz..Also it wont plug in-to most Fenders because of the recessed jack.I still use it some times by running it through another stomp box..bought mine bout 1967..Still works great. Paul Franklin Jr uses one too with his Tele-Rat. I saw him use one on the "Player's live in Nashville" DVD. He was also using a Stereo Steel unit in his rack on that show.
Man, he has an awesome right hand technique!!
