Gary V-thanks for the nice diagram-I would like to hear from Jussi about the circumstance how he came upon the handwitten diagram from Paul Bigsby?-All the materials that I have which he marked on such as the underneath of (original Bigsby) steel guitars,on original Bigsby patterns, and on his original pickup winding machine, none of what Paul Bigsby put down is in written script rather everything is printed in a block letter style which I have come to recognize as His

Paul, I emailed you some letters from what seem to be from or at least signed by Paul Bigsby in script handwriting. If this is indeed his handwriting it appears to be a little hard to read which might explain his tendancy to "print" rather than "write" his messages.

Guys, that piece of paper is from Eddie Gabbard's estate. As Paul knows, I bought Eddie's T8 Bigsby three years ago, along with it came all kinds of Bigsby memorabilia, including a very early volume pedal, strings sets, etc. Eddie was an army officer and kept everything in tip top and the family never threw anything away. They even have the original shipping documents for the Bigsby guitar. After I had picked up the guitar, the family started searching the house ( it's a big house ) and they found even more Bigsby memorabilia, including a letter how to change pots on a pedal. All letters were indeed printed, the diagram shown here, I think was just a quick attempt to explain " how to do it". And in a letter Paul says ( regarding changing the pots )something like "it's hard to put in words, but I could easily show you". There are also letters and invoices showing that Eddie bought pots and string sets from Paul. I have scans of all these letters on my office computer and I'd be happy to email them to anyone who's interested in this kind of steel guitar history.
And hey Paul W, I'm coming to Chicago in three weeks and I'm bringing the Bigsby too. Originally I was suppose to visit the Gabbard family too on this trip, but now it looks like it's not going to happen. On Friday 8th I'm gonna go and check out Big Sandy and Deke Dickerson in Martyrs and next day I'll probably be playing the same club with Marti Brom. If you get a chance, come by and say hi!

Jussi-thanks for the info-From it I have no reason to doubt the originality-Sorry I cannot get to the gigs that you are doing with the boys from Big Sandy and Deke-I would certainly like to but I am scheduled to work (midnight shift) on those evenings-If there is some way that you could get away to the south suburbs during the daytime (late morning or early afternoon) you would be most welcome to stop by my house and see my Bigsby stuff-The guys from Big Sandy have been here several times (back when Lee J was still with them) Hope to see you then-PW
