Just ran across an old photo of some guy named Al Stotler.......when he was a youngster of course, and I couldn't believe my eyes. He looked enough like Jerry Byrd
to be his TWIN. Anybody know this guy?
I guess he's quite a steel guitar enthusiast.
OOOOPS! This should have appeared in the No Peddlers section. S-o-r-r-y about that![This message was edited by Ray Montee on 22 February 2002 at 11:24 PM.] |

Skip, Al Stotler has always been known as the orig JB fan. If you have your old records from the JB fan club I believe Al was a charter member and had # 8 or atleast under 10. Al lives in the Cinncinati area or across the river and still attends Jerrys shows or whatever when Jerry visits the mainland. He is a MEMBER OF OUR ROUND ROBIN TAPE CLUB and still is the spittin image of Jerry. CC |

Skip, your olde age is catching up on you. Don't you recall I "introduced" you to Al a few months ago and you e-mailed him when I gave you his address? Al and I have known each other for over 15 years. He is the UNDISPUTED #1 fan, friend, (and almost twin brother) of Jerry. Jerry has stayed with Al on many occasions and they have attended many of Scotty's bashes in St Louis together. Al even has Jerry's old Trotmore which Jerry gave to him years ago. Can't get much closer than that. Al's a great guy and very knowledgeable when it comes to knowing what GOOD steel players are all about. |

You're right! I was digging thro' my large box of memorabilia late last night and finally located all of my cherrished Steel Guitar Echoes......from the JBFC. In one of the issues was the story of Al and he obviously displays many similarities to the MAin MAN. I ran across some other photo's one of a VERY YOUNG JERRY with his Rick; looked about 18-19 y/o. Some other photo's from the days of the Bobby Lord TV SHow, with JB standing behind a dark wood steel with what appears to be four legs...Fender? or what? ANyway, it was so nice to look into the distant past right at my finger tips. Al and I have become friends during the past six months.......thanks to the Forum |

Hey Skip...if you have a scanner, would you care to share some of those old photos with the rest of us here on the FORUM ? Glad you and Al are still in touch...you're both "byrds of a feather" where Jerry is concerned! |
