I am looking forward greatly to the Dallas show which will be my first "big time"steel convention.
Perhaps someone can inform me,
I guess there will be about 50 steel players performing there,am I right in assuming that amplification will be "house provided"
Will there be several choices for the players or will they be limited to only a few amps?
The past reviews on these shows indicates that many,if not all players had a tone to die for,this surely means that you only need a suitable amp (any brand)to enable that tone to be heard.
Does this prove that technique,phrasing etc., are really more important than all the hyped up equipment.
Incidentally I have, over the years owned about 10 amps and numerous stomp boxes and multi effect units,I now play with only a little delay and reverb and I get an acceptable sound.
best regards

Billy;
From what I've observed, lots of Peavey on the "house" backline, but also a variety of other amplification used by players like Bill Stafford (Evans), Tom Brumley (Fender), Ralph Mooney (Webb), to name a few

There will be several different amps by different manufacturers provided on stage.
The house backline will consist of Peavey Nashville 1000's and 112's, Fender Steel King, and several Evans.
Of course each player is probably welcome to use his own personal amplifiers and some do.
Carter's booth will be powered by Peavey NV 112's and 1000's as well as Fender Steel Kings and a Custom Twin 15. Since we are an interactive booth you can try all of them out.
