Any of you Zum players have GeorgeL E66's on your steel? How do you like em?

Terry..

Had E66 on my D10 Zum for for 21 of the 22 years I have the guitar. Sounded great..Cut a few sessions with them... played many a gig with them....Now have TT 18.5 single coil on the axe...Never sounded better...
made the guitar sound brand new...Clean sound with excellent string distinction...
Cuts very well in the studio...In comparison
I would pick the TT...Less tone supression..This is all just my opinion..
Let tour ears be the judge...Hope this helps..

JD

Terry, I have heard these same good comments about Truetone pickups many times. I have corresponded with Jerry Wallace about his pickups and he is a great guy to deal with. Tell him the sound you want and he will wind it to your specs.
Here is his email address.

I know this started out as an E66 question, but it seems to have turned into a commercial for True Tones. Understandable. I have TT's on both of my Zums. The search is over for best clean tone with single coil sound and virtually no hum. Way to go, Jerry.

When I bought the Zum I had Truetones. I had a mishap and had to replace pickups. I needed one fast and got a Bill Lawrence 710 from Fenchy here in New Mexico. Well the Bill Lawrence is not quite as warm as the Truetone but It is so much hotter that it made it much easier to compete with the screaming lead guitar. If i was in the studio alot I think the Truetones would be better. For stage work I think I am happier with the 710.
