Brad, I have the BB and I am very pleased
with it.
It is setup from the guitar to the BB to my
Hilton Pedal, from the Hilton to a Stereo
Steel Amp.
I have ordered a Hilton Digital Sustain Unit.
Where in the chain should it go.
Thanks,
Glenn |

Hi Glenn, the Digital Sustain by Hilton is an active buffer stage just like what's in the Hilton volume pedal except without the volume pedal part. The electronics are nearly identical. It would be redundant for you at this point to add yet a third buffer stage. You've got the Black Box for the tube sound, then you've got the Hilton volume pedal which again also provides buffering. There isn't really much use for another active stage like the Digital Sustain unit. I've always thought the Digital Sustain unit was for people who insisted on keeping their old pot-type volume pedal but wanted the super-clean sounding electronics of the Hilton circuit to buffer the pickup from the pedal and cables to preserve tone. In a way the Black Box and the Digital Sustain are more comparable items. One uses a a tube to do the buffering and also for its characteristic sound and the other uses high-end audiophile solid state electronics. Two flavors, similar purpose.

Brad, I got one of the first Hilton Pedals
that were produced that does not have the
tone adjustment on it as do the newer ones.
Would the Hilton Digital Sustain Unit still
be redundant.
If not, where would it go in the chain.
Thanks,
Glenn |
