I just got an RV-5 reverb -- it seems very noisy to me. Is this inherent in the unit or did I get a bad one? I look forward to hear from some of you who are using these. Thanks in advance. Boo

Boo, mine is noisy too. Mine seems to come from the transformer adapter. It is quieter with a battery, but then of course it really eats batteries. I've been using it some with my DD3 Delay and the Nashville 112. Little tweaking here and there, I've got it about where I like the sound, but when the stage is quiet, you can hear the RV5 sort of humming. Doesn't seem as bad in the PLATE mode as it does in spring mode to me. Thats about all I've done with it.

Make sure when you are using the wal-wart transformer, don't place it close to the amp,or you will get a hum. Especially close to the speaker magnet.

Right on Kenny,
I also found that I had mine set too close to my amp. Hum went away after I moved the power strip/w wallwart away from my amp.

Your wall wart should be a Boss unit that is filtered DC at 9 volts. If it is a Radio Shack or other, the filtering will likely not be adequate and you will get hum. I use an assortment of Boss pedals, including an RV-5 with no hum problems at all. If the filter cap in the supply is bad, it will also cause hum. The fact that it is quieter with a battery indicate a supply with poor filtering. Bottom line. try a new Boss, Ibanez or other good supply that is made for musical devices.
