I have a direct box that I am super impressed with. I just used it at the recording studio to record my steel guitar direct. This unit is great for steel because it has a mid freq. notch filter that can be switched on or off. I also use this unit on stage to go direct to the PA with my keyboard.
PDI features:
Preamp and DI box combined
Input gain control
Balanced XLR output
1/4" out for sending signal to stage amp
Both stage and PA outputs have their own level controls
Parallel input jack for a tuner
Effects loop
Powered by 48V phantom power or 9v battery
Active bass and treble EQ
Mid-dip shape control permits removal of mids
Notch filter permits dialing out feedback
I have no attachment with the company. I'm just a satisfied customer.

Hmmmm, Ultrasound???????
As far as I know, Ultra Sound was/is a sound reinforcement company that the Grateful Dead used exclusively for the last several years of the Grateful Dead's touring career. It wouldn't suprise me your direct box was made by them, and if so, it may have been made with input from Dan Healy, but this is all just speculation on my part, how about a picture? |
