From the resoguit mailing list (a list devoted to Dobro players around the world). Josh Graves recently had his second leg amputated due to health problems. We're working on getting him an electric wheelchair and possibly remodeling his home. Mr. Beard's guitars are well known as some of the finer resophonic instruments out there.
=================================
Josh Graves has influenced and personally helped many of us over the years, including myself. I would like to help him at this time of need, as I am sure alot of you would. I have decided to offer a Standard R Mahogany Beard guitar, like the one Josh played, for a raffle. All of the proceeds will go to Josh and his family. Resophonic Outfitters will keep a track of all the donations and will present this list to Josh with the amount raised. Your donations will be accepted from January 28 to March 25, 2002. I will announce the winner of the Beard guitar on April 5,2002. I will accept any amount of a donation you would like to give but in order to be included in the raffle for the guitar you will need to make at least a $25.00 donation for each chance, or $100.00 for 5 chances. Please make the checks or money orders payable to the Josh Graves Fund and send to :
Resophonic Outfitters
Attn: Josh Graves Fund
14122 Marsh Pike
Hagerstown, MD 21742.
Please include your name, address, email and phone number in with your donations.
Please understand that all donations will be accepted and are greatly appreciated.
I will be attending SPBGMA in Nashville (January 31 - February 3), and Cabin Fever Pickin Party in Hampton VA (March 1-3). The guitar will be on display and donations will be accepted at both of these shows.
Thank You,
God Bless
Paul Beard

Brad, thanks for posting Paul's offer here. The response on the resoguit list has been tremendous, but the more people who are made aware of Josh's situation and what we are trying to do, the more we can accomplish. This is an opportunity to help a great artist and an opportunity to win a very special guitar. Let's remember Josh in our prayers and send our donations in to the fund. |
