wanting to know what settings usually sounds best on a session 400 black widow? and what type of delay settings should be used thanks,

Well on my 400, before my Podxt I set everything at noon ( sweep all the way to the left) except the lows at just over#3 and mids at #3, and pulled my bright knob. Delays, I usually set at 355 ms, though some go up to 500ms. Never liked the reverb. When there was enough for me it was too muddy.
Boss Rv3s are nice, Haven't tried an Rv5, but they're just reverb. No delay.
I like my Podxt, but if I were fooling aroud with something new and cheap I'd give the Behringer processor a try.
Hope that helped. I've got a ProIII with 16k ohm JW rewinds.

I assume we're talking about the old, original Session 400 -- not the Session 400 Limited that came later.
Try
LOW 7-8 (3-4 o'clock)
HIGH 4-5 (11-12 o'clock)
PRESENCE 5-6 (12-1 o'clock)
SHIFT 800Hz (12 o'clock)
MID 9 o'clock
PRE-GAIN 10
POST-GAIN 2-10 depending on the room and how LOUD you want to be. 
None of these numbers are set in stone. Play with the MID to clear up the midrange. It is a WONDERFUL AMP.

Buddy used my Session at a Minneapolis show in 1980. Here's the setting he used on it.
Vol: 2 1/2
Presence: 7
Treble: 6 1/2
Mids: 4
Shift: 10
Bass: 9
Reverb: 3
Sens: 9 1/2
I also have a late 70's LTD that I could weld these setting onto. It always works.

Logan, if you set all the tone knobs at noon except bass at 4o'clock, that's a good starting place. The Session 400 has a very different EQ than the modern Peaveys. It has a cut-only midrange. If you put the mid and sweep at noon, it'll give a nice 800Hz dip which is pretty steel friendly. The treble has a very dramatic control over the 2.5k-3kHz range and it boosts and cuts. What's interesting is that to get the Session 400 or LTD to be "flat", you have to put presence, treble, and bass at noon and put mid and sweep fully clockwise. It's weird but that's flat. Of course flat rarely sounds good on steel. I generally like this:
presence: 2o'clock
treble: 11o'clock
mid: 9o'clock
sweep: noon
bass: 4o'clock
The sensitivity is the level feeding the power amp section after the preamp. You can make that amp VERY quiet (low noise) if you keep the senstivity lower and the volume higher. On stage it's no big deal so crank the sensitivity up to get the most out of the power amp section, but for at home or recording, you can really remove the amp hiss by taking that knob back down.
