I have been thinking about trying to use 2 amps on stage. Do any forumites find this advantageous? Also trying to find a low-tech way to split the signal. Any suggestions?
Thanks

DOD has a 1-in/4-out [or vice-versa] passive resistance mixer. You might want to give it a shot:

Boss has a very versatile switcher pedal, which may better suit your needs:

For tonal variety, you can't beat multi-amp setups, IMHO. You can try an A/B box, though this doesn't give you the option of running both amps at the same time. A Y-splitter running to two volume pedals is another option.
I hope this helps....go nuts!

Thanks for the response. I'll have to check out that Boss pedal.

Morley makes a stereo pedal that will gradually pan between two amps (one or the other, both, and various combintaions in between). Its mechanically operated and doubles as a volume pedal. Uses an opto resistor instead of a pot so its noisless. Get a spare lightbulb for it if you buy one as no one keeps them in stock.
I only use it if I am running two small amps. I have a couple of Mascos that I set on either side of the stage but I usually use a 40 - 100 watt Fender mono.
The small amps are just for lower volume gigs and using two helps fill out the sound. Panning is just a gimmick to throw in once in a while, at least to me. |

Kendrick makes an ABC( 1 input 3 output) box that allows you to turn any or all channels on at once. It is very transparent sounding, but is also very expensive. |

Thanks for all the info. Are most of you using 2 amps to provide sound to the other side of the stage, or are you using 2 amps to improve tone and depth?

Curley Chalker used two 4x10 Bassman's with his non-pedal Fender back in the day!

Jr. Brown gets a great sound from his 2 Fender twins as well. He can really scorch your ears with them too. I didn't see what his set up was but I bet he just runs from his volume pedal directly into the amps. |
