What ohm extension speakers can The Peavey Session 500 handle? I have an 8-ohm 15" JBL I'd like to hook up to it in an external cabinet. Thanks!

Toby, the Session 500 is Rated 250 Watts into 4 ohms and 300 watts into 2 ohms. The speaker outputs in the rear of the amp includes an output Transformer to provide impedence matching. The direct jack, the one on the left, provides an output directly from the power amp and is capable of handling a wide range of load impedences down to and including 2 ohms. The Transformer output jack, the one on the right, is designed for 4 to 8 ohms.
So, it would be O.K. to use your JBL 8 ohm speaker in my opinion. you would have a total of 2.66 ohms if you hook the speakers in parallel.

A few years back my Standel Custom "fried & died" and I later used the cabinet with it's 15" JBL as an extension speaker for my Session 500.
I rode it hard for two or three years and never had a problem!
