What, other than a weak battery, would cause distortion from my Goodrich L10K volume pedal?

It sure would have been nice had Goodrich put a low battery indicator on this pedal and their other battery products all well.

I have two of the L10Ks, one was fuzzy when I bought it, despite a new battery. Swapped the opamp and it was fine...

I occasionally get some static like sounds out of my Goodrich pedal. When I do, I change the battery and/or clean the connection contacts with some electical contact cleaner. Always seems to work...
