Hi Bill,
I have an Edirol SD 20. I love the sound of it, but it does have some limitations. It depends on what you want to do with it. I started out using it with Band in a Box. I would dump the MIDI data on to an Alesis Data Disk, then I would play on stage with it and a singer. This worked very well. Since then I have joined a band and play steel and a keyboard. I use a Maudio Oxygen 8 keyboard with the SD 20 sound module. The complaint I have with the SD 20 is that it does not remember my setup. I have to resend my channel voices everytime I power up. God help me if I loose power on stage. Thats my story. Now, I'm ready for questions. |

Kevin,
I'm not sure what model Edirol I have but I run a system like yours with the Data Disk and all. I updated my tone generator with the Edirol when BIAB started supporting General Midi II. It really made a difference. I think maybe my model is one step up from the SD-20 as mine came with tabs for rack mounting.

Hi Erv,
Good to hear from you. If you remember, you are the one that got me started with the Data Disk. I talked with you on the phone. I wish I had bought the same model Edirol you have, but it was more than I could afford. The model I have is good, but it doesn't have a battery backup and all setup data is lost on power down. Also, it is a little less convenient because it has no controls on the front of it. All Midi data has to be sent by the controller. |

Kevin,
Yes I remember talking to you. The Edirol model I have was more money that I cared to spend but I looked around on the Internet for the best deal, bit the bullet, and bought it. Glad that I did as I'm real pleased with it. As of late, I've been converting my BIAB tracks to wave form and using my computer to burn CDs for those that can't convert BIAB tracks to audio.
This high teck stuff is pretty amazing!
