...should a PP with an E-66 sound darker and more mid-rangy than an"identical"(both black)guitar with a stock single coil PU?I got'em both here-same everything, except for the pickups...I haven't heard a PP with a single coil in so long(whiny engineers)I can't remember them being so much brighter...thanks.

Steve - I used to play an early 80's S-12 p/p. There were a couple of venues we played at where the hum and buzz were just terrible. I ended up installing an E-66 in my guitar and loved it. I had to bring up the treble just a notch on the amp, but other than that the tone, to my ear, was the same. Great sound without the buzz and hum.

Lee,I recorded both guitars here at the house last nite after I posted. There didn't seem to be a nickel's worth of difference between them when I listened back...I think you're right-I could bump the treble up a tad and they would be VERY close...they sounded real different listening thru an amp,but thru the Pod and out of the monitors they were closer...I don't know!I guess that's why I don't sit around A-Bing stuff all the time...it would drive me crazy...thanks.

Hey Steve, how are ya? I've been using E-66's in both of my guitars since 1988, and they are a great pickup to me. They will sparkle with the best of them, plus you don't get the single coil hum at loud volumes. Shoot me a line sometimes, take care buddy! Eddie

The only thing.I have Emmons single coils ranging 13 to 19.5.So I'm just guessing the E66 sounds a lot like an Emmons single coil at around 15???? ..........bb
