This non-pedal steel guitar has just come into the sights of my periscope. I'm taking a poll... what do you estimate this guitar is worth?

1954 Fender Deluxe D-6, overall condition = Very Good to Excellent

2 six string necks, 3 legs, Trapezoid pickups (strings through pickup), original blonde finish with a few dings, chrome is mint, original tweed case in excellent to mint condition.

According to the 2001 Vintage Guitar Price Guide, a 1952 Dual 6 Professional in excellent condition would be worth between $600 and $750. Adjust your price accordingly, depending on its real age and condition.

That is such a dynamite blues axe! I continue to be amazed that 50's Fender guitars can command 4 and 5 figure prices, but a 1952 double neck steel is still well under $1000. Not that I'm complaining...

I have a feeling that these old Fenders will skyrocket in price soon. They have great tone and sustain. I often play my Stringmaster and Custom at home without an amp and they sound great acoustically... much more natural volume than my D-10 Emmons.

Doug How right you are,,,The Custom and S/M sound great without an amp,,,,the wood resonates,,,,prices are going to sky rocket in a short while.

They are on their way up right now,,I have two of my original custom guitars that found their way back to me,,,,as well as my quad.

I have these three guitars as well as my D10
PP Emmons,,,and I only have one which is missing....my 60 Bigsby triple 8.

AS fate would have it all of these guitars came back to me ,,,,except the Bigsby....I dont think Leo is behind that ,,,do you???.
It was because of Fender that I let that guitar go. How does it look for a Fender rep
to be playing a Bigsby??

With all due respect to my Bigsby,,,which was well built and a beauty,,,If I had my "druthers" I would rather have my Fenders.

Like that old "Fender Slogan" You Wont Part
With Yours Either"...I did but I GOT Em Back.

To Quote my Friend Dave Van Allen......Its Fender Of Course... PS I would like to see
Buddy get a Custom guitar,,,he would triple
(no pun intended) the value of those guitars.

Hope you get one Buddy,,,I will tell you all
of the reason Leo changed the roman numeral
fingerboard position markers...anyone interested in hearing that story???

If NO...you wont hurt my feelings If Yes
I will oblige" the story of how Leo Fender thought of things like that..I'll bet I could write a book,,,but how many would buy it??,,,I dont have a large family,,,

Yes Jody, tell us the roman numeral fretboard story. You da man with da inside dope on the Fender steels!

BTW... my '53 Custom has the "dots and diamonds" pattern. My old National New Yorker had roman numerals... I guess that and $1.00 should get me a cup of coffee most anywhere.

Gene, Doug..
I posted my story regarding the Roman Numeral
fretboards used for a short time by Fender
way back.

Due to the length of the story,,I have put it back in my memoirs,,,,will be glad to write you off line,,but you will need to have the time to read it,,, I decided that
I would not take up space on this Forum with
these long stories,,,,but it was a "good one"

I gotta tell you, Jody, you touched a sweet spot there. My dad worked for some 25 years at Bulova in Queens. He had a few Accutrons. I still remember my first listen to that hum. Never expected to tie that part of my life into this (steel) part.

BTW--I used to take pride in Bulova. Then they were bought by Loew's corporation (Hotels, Theaters, nicoteen and pompous society ways ((the Tisch family)) and they sort of micro-managed Bulova into the ground (and eliminated my dad's job--yeah, it's personal).

Anyway, great story!

Thank you for posting that great story Jody. It's interesting to learn that Leo considered the roman numeral fretboards to be more suited to student guitars. I never thought of it that way, but it makes sense.

I realize that my typing is bad,,,my spelling is terrible,,and my paragraph's dont
make any sense. After reveiewing my post I realized that this will be seen around the world. Some one once said to me,,dont say too
much and prove you are a "dummy" keep quiet
and let them figure it out themselves.

That was a terribly long story and I know that bOb would rather have me put a story such as that in a shorter version.

I will try to shorten it and clean it up and
re-post it again, I would have rather it stayed as it was,,because it was the real me
speaking and not some good typist using the
kings english and grammer.

If I cannot do this,,,I will re=post exactly
what the few of you saw.

Jon,I still have my Accutron,,in fact I have 6 of them,,I put them on my dresser and at
night they resonate through the wooden surface of the dresser and I think of those times gone by.

My wife cant sleep with the hum of 6 Accutrons so I remove them and place them under my pillow to drive her crazy,,,she then says,,,,whats that "hum"?? and I say
what "hum" pardner??? will be back asap.
