I play lead guitar and steel at church. I prefer to play steel, but I have been asked to alternate between the two. I use a Profex into the pwr amp in jack on a Vegas 400 or Nashville 400. I am thinking about a 1 space rack plate with two inputs with switches to select between lead and steel using the profex. Has anyone tried a set up like this? I thought about taking an A-B stomp box apart and mounting in the 1 space rack blank. Just wondering would it make more sense to just go from Profex to Channel one on Vegas and then run guitar thru Channel two without the profex?

I don't think I would use a passive type A-B stomp box. There will be a very loud POP when switching from one to the other. I think the "Profex II" in one channel and the 6-string in the other would work nicely. Of course,set up the volumne levels for each as they will differ due to the fact the "Profex II" dosen't need a pre-amp.

Bill, thanks for the reply. I have thought it over and decided your way is probably the best. I ran my 335 thru the profex and it was very loud. I had to back the volume on the guitar down to about 2 or 3. I really like going direct to the pwr amp in on the Vegas, but I can "0" out the eq on the amp on the channnel with the profex.

Is the Profex necessary at all? The Vegas is designed for steel in channel one, and lead guitar/fiddle in channel two. Perhaps use a delay unit with the steel, that's all most players need.

The "Profex II" can produce a wide range of effects. I've used mine to do organ,Leslie,and other effects not nornally or easily found in a single delay stomp box.
If one will take the time to experiment with this effects unit,I'm sure most will say it's the best effects unit ever made.
(No, "Peavey" has no connection with me other that a very satisfied user.)
(BTY) I do have a DD-3 stomp box that I use with my "Sessions 400" and "Nashville 400" in order to get past the "Slap-Bang" of the spring reverb unit.

What about a single rack space mixer? Is more than you need but would solve multiple problems.
