Your opinions please..Is there a replacement pickup available someplace that would have the same sound as an original ShoBud single coil pickup and would also just drop right in with no mods to the guitar body?
Thanks!

Have Jerry Wallace rewind it, he did the pickup in my '73 LDG and it sounds great!

Yes just like Joe said is one option. Also Jerry Wallace makes a True Tone that fits Shobud...or you can get a Bill Lawrence 710 Narrow mount(that's what Lloyd Green has in his Shobud) or a 910 Narrow mount...>so specify "Narrow Mount" and it will fit right in there.

To answer your question> YES a Jerry Wallace TrueTone for a Shobud wound to 17,500 ohms; sounds JUST like the Shobud Pickup; I know this because I have swapped Many many Shobud pickups out for a True tone.
Also my other answer is if you want a humbucking pickup that sounds JUST LIKE a Shobud pickup.....that would be the Bill Lawrence 710 narrow mount....and both those pickups with Go right in without any modifications....Bam there it is...
If your wondering how I know this or if I know anything at all....>I have put every pickup in over 25 different Shobuds and that is my answer....

Not to disagree with my Esteemed Colleague and Friend, Mr Davis, as the senators say...

I preferred the rewound Sho Buds that JW did for me at 16k over the True Tone with the larger diameter magnets. I seemed to miss some of the resonances on the middle strings for some reason. I also like the thicker top plate he puts on the rebuilds.

I plan to put 2 16 k rebuilt SB Single coils on my Marrs when it gets to that stage.

Either way, Excellent work, short turn around time, and the best price around.

Cool Eric; I can dig....had a couple done like that from Jerry and dug'um.
Correction on Lloyd Green's Pickup
Lloyd NOW has a True Tone in his original LDG....He's had it in there for almost two weeks....and more later on how much he's diggin' it...
