I am looking for a device to take the place of the volume pedal. I have been researching about matchboxes and hilton digital sustain and I don't think that is what I am looking for. They don't play the role as a master volume like the volume pedal does, they seem to be made to be used with a volume pedal for impedance buffering (correct me if wrong). I'm looking for a device that would clip on to the leg of my steel with an overall master volume knob. Basically a volume pedal in a box. Preferably a tone control on there as well. Like the onboard volume and tone controls on a lap steel. Where can I find something like this?

If you are already using a Hilton Digital Sustain (or similar type of pre-amp/imp. match. device) you can simply place a second volume pedal to the right of your main volume pedal. Then go out of the main pedal in to the second pedal and then out to your f/x units or amp. You can then just reach over with your right foot and adjust the overall volume.

It's a good idea to carry a back-up volume pedal anyhow. You might as well get some use out of it.

I think what you're looking for is right there in a Goodrich Match Box. It has a volume control and a tone control. I use it all the time. It is the real deal for doing the final touches after you set up in a strange place. If you need more, or less, volume and a brighter, or more mellow, tone.

Erv, can the matchbox give Significant volume adujustments, as in turning the volume from none to full, or is it just for tweaking the overall volume. I am looking for a complete volume control. Remember this will not be used with any volume pedal. Just guitar to matchbox to amp.

The volume control goes the whole way, from off to full blast.
