I tried one last year and didn't like it for steel. Sounds more like a Deluxe than a twin. As a 6 string guitar amp I thought it was quite good. |

It's a decent amp, but probably not as good as an older Fender or Peavey for pedal steel. (The Traynor's 80 watts is just about bare minimum for most live gigs.) The new "re-issue" Twin~Reverbs aren't nearly as good as the old ones. Other than being "new", they have little to recommend them. |

I've got a YCV-80Q, with 4 10's, and my steel sounds great with it. I'm now using it for guitar, though, and a Twin for steel. |

If you can find an old Traynor Mark3, they are great sounding for pedal steel. Very similar to a Twin with the same power. They come in either a 2-12" combo (like a Twin) or head-only. Similar to a Twin where they are designed to drive a 4 ohm load. Usually you can find them for $300-400. |

Keep a close watch and you should be able to find a 100 watt or 135 watt Silverface Twin for $600, that will sound head and shoulders better than the Traynor, and built better too!
The Traynor is not a bad amp, but compared to what ??.... |
