| I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the Goodrich volume pedal, model LSW. This is not the potless model. Goodrich says it is best for steel, and they say it's a dual-function pedal. It pairs well with the matchbox units, such as the 7A. They describe the pot as being longlife; typically 2 years of active use. |

I've been using one for about a year and a half and it suits me just fine.To me it strikes a nice middle ground between a straight pot pedal and the state-of-the-art potless pedals like the Hilton etc which are expensive and need wall warts. And if they crap out on a gig you got nothin'. In contrast,the LSW uses a battery(which does indeed last at least 6 months of 3-5 gigs a week)and if the battery does happen to go dead,you simply switch the matchbox section out of the signal path and you have a simple passive pot pedal.The matchbox part cleans up the sound nicely and the pedal rides low which I also like.With George L cables and that pedal,I have about as clean and transparent sound as I'll ever need.

I have one and it's very nice. Batteries last quite a while if you remember to unplug the pedal when not in use. The pot lasted about 3 years then went all scratchy - so I threw it in the trash and got a Hilton.
Kidding, I need to get a new pot and fix it for a backup pedal. But I do like the Hilton!

If I'm not mistaken, this is the model with the "Match Box" built in. There is a switch on it where you can disengage the Match Box section. I really like it when playing lap steel as then it is hard to find a leg to clamp the Match Box on. I once tried to clamp it on MY leg. But, boy did that hurt!!

Erv, GeorgeL sells the leg clamps. Probably a lot more comfortable than on you leg.

Jim,
When I play a steel with legs, my Match Box clamps right on. But I need to lose a lot of weight before I can clamp it on my own leg!
