Hi Mike, I recently plugged in my wife's new Xmas present (Kurzweil K2000s) and experienced a power surge which blew the fuse in my studio (garage) and I think "fried" the keyboard, how much damage could this type of electrical shock amount to in terms of repair cost? I remember plugging the out of the keyboard into my digitech gsp2101 which upon contact with the metal jack to the plug caused the short circuit..Any ideas, the keyboard is in the shop but it's taking a long time hearing from them??

No, Peavey didn't buy Kurzweil but I've dealt with Billy before on a Peavey product and I appreciate his trust in my comments.

This situation sounds like what we call the "hot chassis" syndrome. Depending on the extent of the damage, this could be costly. It is caused by the difference of chassis ground between the two products. But that's just a guess.

Yeah... expensive. But here is the good news. You can pick up used K2000s for cheap these days. I am looking for a good used keyboard and have found these in the $450-800 range. Considering that I just dropped $300 on a keyboard repair, finding another used one cheap may be your best bet.
