I have started getting a real crackle from my ProfexII when I push the volume pedal a bit. Had the unit about 7 years and haven't changed the battery, so would the old battery be contributing to this crackle ??

Is the clipping indicator on the front panel turning red? If so, your signal is too strong for the input. Remember that the front input is for instrument levels and if the signal is too strong, you will hear the crackle. I've heard that myself when I owned a Profex II.

Back off on the volume of the input signal.

Thanks Mike, I think your right -- what about the battery, should I change that anyway?
