Which one of these units would be quieter. Line noise, hiss etc.

I had a Nanoverb for a couple years. The one
I had was fairly quiet on the reverb settings.
The other effects made a bit more noise.
I used to plug it into the amp input but if
you used it in an FX loop instead, I'm sure
it would be OK. The only Lexicon I've got
is an old LXP-1. That almost has to be used
in an FX loop, but MAN that thing sounds
nice!

I just opened up my nanoverb and man is that a piece of crap in there. The very cheapest components money can buy. It's an 18bit unit and sounds sort of ok but nothing special. It's really hard to beat the Lexicon reverb sound.

| My Nanoverb is small, has a better sound than the spring units and have been using it for 2 years with a Session 500 and now with my new Webb 614E. I have other digital reverbs but this is compact and works fine. |

I quit using the Nanoverb because it was so noisy. The MPX 100 has it beat hands down, both in features and sound quality.

I use Nanoverbs and would gladly trade a little noise for the ability to stash it in my pac-a-seat and not have to carry a rack.
I did find that when I tried to put the Nano in the FX loop of my Nash 400,and turned up the front end of the amp where I normally set it(around 7),it would overdrive the Nano into distortion.When I backed off on the amp gain to the Nano or the input control on the Nano itself,I couldn't get the rig as loud as I normally could even if I turned the second amp gain knob all the way up.Therefore,it works best to go from the volume pedal to the Nano and out of the Nano into the amp. I've got several high end Lexicons in my studio as well as software reverb plug-ins etc that are quieter than a Nano but for live gigs like clubs and concerts it's just fine. I'm always much more concerned that I'm gonna get hum from my single coil pickup than from my Nanoverb. -MJ- |
