I have a Vegas 400 and the reverb unit has a
lot of feedback noise when I turn it up to
5 or 6. I was by a recogonized repairman to wrap it in foam, window insulation. I did, it didn't. I laid a piece of rubber inner tube on it and it helped a lot. However, if I set it on the floor it still feedsback but, if I set it up about 12" off the floor it permits me to turn the reverb up to 7 before noise starts (although I do not run it this high).
Does anyone know what causes this and what to do to correct it without taking it back to Peavey. The amp sounds good and so does the reverb, when it is not turned up.

Basically, you have to determine if the reverb is working normally and bad, like most Peavey reverbs, or if it is working exceptionally bad, unlike other Peavey reverbs, requiring repair.
I have redesigned the Peavey reverb circuit (in my NV 400) to sound more Fenderesque. I am quite pleased with my efforts and I'm wondering if anybody is interested in an improved reverb sound from a Peavey amp, or if everyone is already locked into their Lexicons, Profexs, ect., ect. I haven't really finished the research so there is an assumption that one can generalize my improvements to all Peavey reverb circuits. They may be all the same or similiar, I'm not really sure. Hey, Bob M.......
How about sending/e-mailing me the schematics and stuff on the redesign you did on your NV400 ???
While I do use a "Profex II", I also like my "400" and sometimes use a "DD-3" for delay.

| Sounds like it could be a bad reverb tank. They're cheap, and easy to replace. |
