Topic: Goofy Bass Control on Session 500 |

| When I turned on my Session 500 last night, it made some popping and static noises, but then settled down. I plugged in a new (old) PP Emmons for the first time that I had just bought. It had no bass! Just real tinny, thin stuff. Boy was I disappointed. I cranked the bass all the way to 10. Had very little volume. I suspected a pickup problem. But, hold the horses!!! This morning I got up with a new approach. I plugged in my Kline guitar, and it had no bass! Wo--what is going on here. I turned the bass knob down, I don't know why, and lo and behold, I had bass! The bass control knob works fine up to -3, then it starts to loose it and by the time you get to 0, the bass is gone and the volume of the whole amp is reduced by 90%. Is there any of you tech guys that have ever heard of this before. Does it just need a new pot on the bass? The timing of the thing going out was eerie. Made me think I had just bought a guitar that was a lemon. Thanks. |

George, I spoke with one of our factory techs here at Peavey and he stated that the problem could be anywhere from a broken potentiometer to a dirty potentiometer. It's unlikely that it is anything else, but anything is possible. The one thing that you can do "external" of the chassis is to check each effects "loop" on the rear panel and the front panel. Example; use short cable and connect it from the "TO" jack on the front panel back into the "FROM" jack on the front panel,etc.. If you need further assistance, call me at 1-877-732-8391.

Pull the chassis, spray the pot in question with a pot cleaner with silicon, check the solders for the pot on the PC board. If that fails to do it, time to find a tech.

| Thanks Mike and Bob. I will have a my local Peavey tech check it out. I was just curious if anybody else had ever had this weird problem. I also thought some might find it interesting about the timing of the problem. |
