I was wondering how I can find out how old my amp is and if it still has the original speakers. Just curious! Serial #F328868

What is the code number on the speakers? Should be a 6 diget number on the rim area or some numbers on a white square.

Unscrew the pan cover for the filter caps. There will be a manuf. code number on them. Get you within a year.

Pre CBS will have a date code on the tube chart.

Jeff,

Alvin and Bill are steering you right. Transformers, speakers and pots all have date codes that you can read up on the net. Also, many Fender amps have a date stamp inside the chassis, usually near the power transformer. Compare your amp's circuitry against the Fender schematics you will find on the net and you'll get a very good idea when it was built.

BTW, the amp's model number (AB 763, AC 568, ect, ect.) is more significant than the actual year the amp was built in. It is the single most significant piece of data about any Fender amp and tells far more about the amp than the date of manufacture.

Bob M hit the nail on it's head. After many years dealing with Fender amps I have found you must compare the amps circuitry against a Fender schematic. Date codes on components will get you in the ball park.
