hi, i've got an i mac that is a couple of years old and running on 9.1 with 450mhz and i am wondering if anyone can tell me what the best recording software is to use. i have heard from previous posts that the digidesigns protools is difficult, is this true? i have heard good things about motu stuff, does anyone have any advice for a beginner? i am looking for the one that is most stable and easiest to use. thanks in advance.

Chris,

I don't know if protools is the best, but, in my opinion, it's pretty easy to use, and you can download a version of it over the internet to try it out.

Best of luck,
Susan

MOTU's Digital Performer or it's audio-only counterpart, Audiodesk. Very very stable on macintosh. Hosts all the pro plug-ins and talks to any hardware. Pro-Tools is a bit more restrictive. Both do the same thing with regards to audio. Digital Performer is much more advanced as far as midi and scoring.

For two-track only recording and editing, Bias Peak is excellent and also serves as a swiss-army-knife for audio files.
