I'm in the process of putting my T-8 Stringmaster back together again. I thought it would be a good idea to check out the pickups. They all read in the neighborhood of 6.5 K of resistance. Is this ok?

I never actually read pickup values for a Stringmaster but that seems completely consistent with what most Fender instruments would be.

The normal range is from 8 to 10.000
Ohms. 6.5 seems a bit low to me. You might check with Jason Lollar. I think Ricky can give you some sound advice as well.

YEs Erv that is perfect for reverse wound(north;south) pickups blended together...as each pickup being 6 to 8K is perfect...as these are 8 string pickups so the winding will be hotter than say a 10 string pickup(larger area) with the same ohms.
But the clincher is the 250K volume pot and 1 meg tone pot(Audio) that are in these stringmasters...and you get a very active warm response with this combination....as opposed to say 500K where is would cut your head off with treble.
In these reverse wound two pickup ran together without a blend control....you will notice the amount of gain you get from the back pickup to the front pickup as you move the tone knob just ever so slightly back from Full on......and so on..
6 plus 6 equals 12000 Ohm and for 8 string pickups in series giving you 12000 omhs full on ....is like a 20,000 or more 10-string pickup in a pedal steel...it KICKS serious butt...and with that very responsive audio tone pot...it almost acts as a blend knob in response to the gain of the pickups...cause when you cut signal somewhere..it has to go somewhere else...
>any way I can go on and on and on about the Stringmaster....but I'll stop now..ha...and say >yes you got it going on and it's right.

With both pick ups in series my Deluxe measures 16.1 kohms and the Stringmaster measures 15.22 kohms.

Yes, I got to thinking about it after I made the posting. The two pickups are wired in series so if you take 6.5 K and add another 6.5 K you wind up with 13 K which should make for a hot combination. The Stringmaster that I am rebuilding was involved in an accident and a couple of the pickups were damaged. I was worried if they were still functional. It appears that they came through in good shape. It only goes to prove that you can't keep a Fender down!!!
