I love my Boss GX-700, but thus far haven't been able to get its auto-wah to sound like my old MXR Envelope Filter. Has anyone been able to program program theirs to something they're happy with?
I can get the attack and sustain somewhat similar, but can't get rid of the "auto" pulsing. I'd appreciate seeing some settings you like. |

I don't use the GX-700, but I do use a GT-6, with the following parameters:
Mode: BPF (bandpass filter -- narrow freq range)
Polarity: Up (Wah, instead of Aow)
Sensitivity: 25
Freq (center frequency): 5
Peak: 90
Rate: OFF (IMPORTANT to avoid for a single wah)
Depth: 74
Level: 51

That's the sound Larry, thanks! Thanks to Dan Dowd as well. I also had a nice chat with him this evening. He gets his wah with the Humanizer effect in his Boss VF-1, which I will try as well.
My GX's Auto Wah has some of the same parameters as your GT-6, and some you don't. I have polarity (up or down), sensitivity, manual (center frequency), peak (how much the frequencies are affected around the center frequency), rate (I'll check to be sure that's OFF ), depth, and level. |

I tried the humanizer thing too. Didn't work well for me. Let me know if you find anything interesting.
I think the Boss MultiFx boxes are really underrated in the steel community. Lots of folks use the delays and reverbs, but all that is available in one box along with everything else you can think of. I don't use the weird stuff often, but it's nice to know it's there with the push of a button. I've never seen anything with as much cool stuff as the GT-6 and the sound quality is great for live stuff and it has S/PDIF out for direct digital recording. Way cool in my book!
