What is the difference in quality and sound between the Eminence and Fane 15 inch speaker?

most Fanes I've seen were either Alnico speakers (warmer, grittier high end, less bass response, barking midrange), or Celestion clones (very midrange heavy, rolled off low and high end).
Eminence, depends on the speaker, they have speakers to cover almost any voicing, from old JBL, to EV to Celestion, to Jensen type... |

| Evans has recently gone from a Fane to an Eminence in their SE200. The Eminence is apparantly lighter weight, but I don't know how it sounds compared to the Fane. |

Don,
If you can get the chance to test drive the SE200 with various speakers, do so. What one person likes, the other may not.
I have an SE200 that I purchase in 2002 and it has a Fane speaker. It sounds great to my ears. I'm playing an Emmons LLII with the 108 humbucker. I play about 5 gigs per month and have not had one bit of trouble with the amp.
I have heard the new, lightweight Eminence speaker and it sounds good too. But, I have not plugged my guitar into one, or A/B'd the two amps.

| Regarding the fanes a question. Where is a good place to have one reconed properly. I have a beat Ampeg B18 portaflex that need a recone. A little info on the fane company anyone? |

I had very good luck with them. They where reasonably priced and fairly quick. That was a few years ago but according to a search on Yahoo, they are still in business.

The Eminence speaker in the Evans is, I believe, one of the new neodymium speakers-less weight and better performance. See the 2 most recent PSGA newletters with my notes from Dallas-and the sidepiece with Dan Healy-I'm thinking of putting a pair of them in my Twin. And I think Peavy is getting ready to load them up as well, although they will not discuss it for public consumption.
