I have a Vegas 400 with the mod kit in it - The mod kit helped the tone considerably, but was wondering - Has any replaced the 1502-4 speaker in one of them with a 1501 or anything else to help to get a warmer tone. Or is it not worth spending the money??

Heck yea, get the 1501-4 basket in there. Much better suited for the voice of the steel. I was in the same situation. Keep your magnet and just get the basket. They're pretty cheap.

As I understand it, the Vegas speaker 1502 is more rugged than the ideal steel speaker 1501, because the Vegas is twin channel and has to handle guitar, fiddle etc. If you use a second instrument, you may damage a 1501 speaker.
