pickup upgrade

Hello forumites, I'm learning on a Morel Little Roy Wiggins eight string lap steel and having fun finding my way.The " lipstick tube " pickup seems to be a low output factor and although I'm not too keen on sinking much money in this instrument, I was wondering if anyone knows who made this pickup for Morel and if there's a decent replacement available elsewhere ? thanks
