To anyone who knows: I am looking for a good reverd and delay effects. I need it to be simple to operate---where I can change effects quickly. I don't need 200 presets or something I have to program. I was looking at a Alesis Picoverb in the Musicians Friend catalog. It looked like it might serve my purpose. Do any oy know about or have any experience with this unit. If not, could you recomend something else. I've never used effects before but I like some of the expanded reverbs I hear. I thought I'd give it a try. Many thanks in advance. EDDIE MALRAY

I don't know whether that thing is even
in stock yet. It originally was due out
in August, but most dealers are still
waiting. I've had the Nanoverb, & that
was great for the price. The Picoverb is
even smaller & has 24 bit processing, so
it should be excellent....if it ever finally
becomes available. The new Boss RV-5 is
now also 24 bit with stereo in's & out's
but it's more expensive. Probably can't
go wrong with either unit.

I have a Digitech RP100, and I am very happy with it for several reasons. High on the list is that they cost about $100. It has compression, digital delay, analog delay, several reverbs, chorus, phase, distortion, tuner...you name it. And at the top of the list, it is VERY user friendly. Had the sound I wanted in about ten minutes.

Judging from the pictures and the limited info available in the catalogs, it appears that there are no adjustable parameters. In other words, everything is preset. You may not be able to adjust the delay time or room size, etc.

If it is anything like the Nanoverb, it will probably be unsuitable for an "all in one" unit, as there are great reverb settings, an OK delay function, and a combo(Dly/Rvb.) setting that you cant do too much with. If ya had 2 in line it would work, but by then you might as well have bought a better unit.

Jay: You were right. I called Musicians Friend today and the Picoverd will not be in stock until the middle of January. (maybe)

Eddie ,I've used an Alesis Microverb for a long time because I don't care for the sound of spring reverb.I'ts been a great little unit and the size is about right because I have it mounted on the guitar. But I've always wanted chorus without adding another stomp box.So Mike ,what you mentioned about the Digitech RP 100 sounds very interesting. But what about the size-is it a rack mount or about the size of a Microverb? I made up a sort of pedal-bar type mount tha goes from the back rt. leg to the front rt. leg.It also has a bracket for a small mike stand.Having everything at my fingertips is very handy.Thats why I'm asking about the size.

Rusty-Its about six inches wide and eight inches long. I set it on the floor next to my volume pedal, and have my settings in sequence so I can change with the tap of a toe.

Eddie, you want a simple, but good reverb and delay, right? Why not just the RV3 stomp Box? I have one and am very happy with it. If you use the Lloyd Green settings, it should work just fine. I bought mine at Guitar Center on sale for $119.00.

To all who replied: It looks like the Picoverg is hand operated and takes 1/4 rack space. Anyway I was at Bill Strouds house the otdher night. and I bought a new Boss RV3 pedal from him. I like it. Thanks, EDDIE MALRAY pLEASE EXCUSE TYPOS. NOW AND IN THE FUTURE.

I purchased a Picoverb from Guitar Center 3 days ago for $69 w/the option to return it if I didn't like it.I got it home and tested it against my Nanoverb which I like a lot and use w/my Nash 400.Folks,the Picoverb ain't happening. It was far noisier than my Nanoverb and unlike the Nano,it was very dull sounding - it sounded like I turned my treble and presence controls about 3/4 of the way off.If it wasn't for those 2 things,I could live with the tweaking limitations.I took it back for a refund and am presently looking for another used Nanoverb. -MJ-
