I noticed the price of Behringer equipment is cheap compared to some of the other brands. I have a couple of small items that are Behringer, an Ultramizer and patchbay. Both seem to function as advertized. I may want to purchase more expensive piece of Behringer gear in the future. I was wondering if any of you have any experiences, good or bad, with Behringer gear.

Engineered in Germany, built in China -- I hate to say it, but that's a hard combination for American-made gear to beat. I have used Behringer Feedback Eliminator, Composer (compressor, etc.), Virtualizer (effects), and 602 mini-mixing board for 2-3 years with good results, no reliability problems. At one time, they were being sued by Mackie for patent infringement for some PA products and I don't know if that was ever resolved.

Behringer have some tremendous bargains, we have a lot of their stuff in College - the Mics are well worth a try. However, Mackie's are not the only toes they have trodden on.
A lot of Behringer kit seems very familiar if you know the professional equivalent.
It's alleged that they have a way of saving on the R&D budget, (by close examination of competitors' circuitry).
Cheers

Behrenger makes very inexpensive quality gear, but the knock on them, is that they are accused of stealing small bloutique companies deisigns. I have a problem w/ predatory companies like this driving mom and pops out of business, but at the same time, I am not so ethical as to boycott them in exchange for spending more money. It like Wallmart, I hate the way they drive small business out of small towns, but I still end up there once a month spending and saving big money.

I have 2 of their Powerplay headphone amps and one Composer dynamics processor. As stated above, good stuff at a good price. Probably would not measure up to a million dollar commercial studios standards, but for us with project/home studios, they are just fine.

I have a 3282 mixer. It has 24 mono channels and 4 stereo channels with 8 groups and 8 effects sends and built in talkback mike and a rack mount power supply. It was a steel when I bought it at $1299 but now they are $899 at Musicians Friend. I also have a Powerplay headphone amp. It was also a great deal at $150 but they are now cheaper. They can't be beat for the price and the sound is great.

They have a couple of guitar amps that seem to be nice. I have seen both in person. The 210 model has Jensen speakes in it,and a chalk full of onboard digital effects. Musicians Friend has it for $199.00. I may pick one up in the future.

I have lots of expensive gear in the studio here but love finding cheap stuff that works great. (RNC compressors!) I have loads of Behringer stuff- they have a bad rap with some retailers because of earlier quality control isssues that seem mostly resolved now. Their tube Ultragain mic preamps that are going for $199 and less at the mail order houses now are a SUPER bargain- sound very close to much more expensive stuff. Every day I use the new DDX3216 digital mixer and I can't say enough good about it. Does nearly everything a D8B can do for $1299 street. I have had some problems with their patch bays which are set up with a cool switching circuit for normalizing, but seem to be rather "loose" as far as good connections go. I've owned 6 different brands of enhancers but sold all but an (early) Behringer because it sounds the best on most types of material. At the very least you get more than your money's worth.

I bought a used Feedback Destroyer, and it's wonderful. We use one Audio-Technica 4033 mike for our bluegrass band, and the Feedback Destroyer--well,it does just what it says. Good stuff, good price.

I have an 802-mixer and it does what it's supposed to, and it's build very sturdy. I've seen technical riders from bands with comments like: "No Behringer-gear!" and I think this is not justified anymore.

And concerning the accusations of copying more expensive product: So what? That's capitalism.

Copying features is capitalism--copying exact circuit design/layout/component etc. is theft...(I believe it came out in court that in the case of their first rips of the Mackie mixers, their circuits boards had the Mackie logo on them--they did not even bother to take it off the direct copy of the circuit board.)

hehehe, that's not copying, that's just stupid...

But, really, just listen to the charts - it's done everywhere and it's a problem for the lawyers. I can buy a product that I couldn't afford otherwise - and it inspires my creativity. I just bought the B-1 single diaphragm Condenser Microphone. I payed 125 EUR and it's the best mic I ever used. Thank you, Behringer...
