Ron,
I am not familiar with the Evens RET 500, in fact I never heard of it.

If it's actually an Evans FET 500, it's worth $350-$500 depending on condition.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Bob

If it was built in 1986 then that would be built by Darrel Stevens.....and that would be an original Pine Box and I'd give you 600.00 for it and not think twice....If I was lookin' that is.

Mine's from that era - I wouldn't part with it.

Peavey make fine steel amps but, for me, they don't work with electric guitar - the Evans is great for both!

Hey, Ricky,
Good Lord, You are WELL educated on Many Things in this Steel Guitar world of ours.
I have lots of respect for people who are in the KNOW, if you Know what I mean.
For years, I have made it a "THING" to know WHO sang the song, What year, and "all that Jazz". With ALL catagorys, Old R&B, OLD country, The 'SWING" ara of the 40s'I LOVE trivia of the 50s & 60s....I have been known to get "STUMPED" once in a while, though. Now I "KNOW" who to ask, when I need to "KNOW" something regarding Steel Guitar.
Keep picking a winner....
PS...I own a FET 500 Evans also...bought it from Walter Robers in Mindon, Louisiana in 1998...Quite a workhorse, it is...

I have two from that era also, Tweeds with black speaker cloth. Still in like new shape. I wouldn't think of getting rid of either one of them.

Cool Deal Ron W.
Hey Ron P. thanks for the kind words and yes I have to attribute the little knowledge I have to my many many great Mentors and Role Models of the steel guitar world....and waaaaaaay too long to list them here.......
But speaking of the Evans Amp....
I had Darrel put me one together out of the Very first big Pine box that was made(he found it somewhere)....and was a great amp and probably still is.....but Jon Light owns that one now.

I'm still using an FET-500 (large cabinet) that Darrell made me in the early 1980's.

What a great amp.

My Mullen sounds great through it, as does my old Gretsch Chet Atkins.

I just sold two of these in Central Texas. I think they got a great deal at $400 each.
God Bless,
Steve
