I bought a new Peavey 1000 a few months ago and it seems to have a louder than usual hum. I know Peaveys are a little noisy but the 1000 noise is louder than my Session 500.
Is this a characteristic of the 1000? The hum is about the same with all my guitars--single coils or humbuckers. Have any other 1000 owners noticed this? Other than being noisey it sounds really good.
Thanks,
Larry |

Larry do you have anything else in line from your guitar to the amp?? are you using just the Nashville or another amp along with it??

Sometimes the reverb pan is mounted too close to the speaker and this causes a hum. In all the ones I sell, I move the pan as close to the back of the amp as possible to avoid this hum. I found this out from a tech I sent a brand new 1000 too. Takes about 2 minutes.

Thanks for the reply,
Ricky, I just go from the guitar to a volume pedal to the amp.
Bill, I'll check into moving the reverb pan.
Another thing I noticed is when you first turn the amp on there is a slight pop, a slight delay then another louder pop before the amp comes on.
I haven't heard anyone else mention this. I didn't want to take the amp to the doctor if there was nothing wrong.
I sure appreciate the help and information available from the Forum.

My first guess would be the routing of the wiring harness, which is critical in reducing the hum/hiss. Make sure that this symptom is not related to the reverb circuit by turning the reverb control off.
This is not a characteristic of the Nashville 1000 at all, but I know that the amp can be "quiet as a mouse" as well. My question is if it has gradually gotten louder since you purchased it?
I can be reached toll free at 1-877-732-8391 and will be glad to help you resolve the problem.

Larry, the delayed "pop" is normal. I have the prototype Nashville 1000 right here at my desk and it has a slight low level delayed pop. Nothing to worry about though.
