My nashville 400 w/lemay mod. has a problem.
The notes are coming out at half volume and sound very broken up. I gave the amp a shake and it returned back to normal for a second then went out again. I use and gig with this amp frequently and roll it around(it has casters). I'm thinking something popped loose in the circuitry. Can anyone relate to this problem or have any ideas on how to fix it? I assume I'm going to have to take it to a peavey service tech so I will be looking for one. Thanx for any input. |

James,
I had a similar problem with my Nash 400, also. I found out it was the Molex connectors in the amp. You have to slide out the chasis too easily fix it. Just spray a good electrical cleaner on the separated connectors and attach and separate them a few times and then spray again, before you finally connect them together. It worked for me and I hope it works for you. |

Without any dissassembly of the amp, I suggest that you plug your guitar into the instument input as normal. Then, use a second shielded cable and connect from the PRE EQ SEND to the PRE EQ RETURN jacks in the PRE EQ PATCH LOOP on the front panel. The RETURN jack is of the switching type and could be "open". If the amp works as normal after you make this connection, it indicates that the RETURN jack is sprung open and needs replacing. You can do the same on the PRE AMP OUT and POWER AMP IN jacks on the rear panel.
You might try spraying Peavey FUNK OUT(#00456600)contact lubricant/cleaner on the jacks to ensure that the contacts are not dirty.

James, "MOLEX" is a brand name and not really the name of the connector itself. However, it is the white plastic multi-wire connector that makes up the reverb and speaker wiring harness in your particular amplifier. Both speaker and reverb Molex connectors are plugged into the bottom of the Nashville 400.
