I use my "Nashville 400" head with 2 "Peavey" 112e's.

Also at times when we are just doing a practic thing, I use my "Nashville 400" head into a "wedge"speaker monitor. Works great.

Sam, I read your other post about using the NV400 and the Bandit 75 together, with the ProfexII. Doing that gives your output TWO chanels. If you use two speakers with the NV400, won't you still have only one chanel, the same as if you used an extension speaker with it? I think you will need to use a 2 chanel amp of some kind to properly do what you suggest.

Sam:
You can not use a pair of 4 ohm speakers wired in series with a Nashville 400 amp as that would drop the ohmage load on the amp to 2 ohms. The Peavey 1501-4 black widow speaker is a 4 ohm speaker. You could wire the speakers in parallel and this would create an 8 ohm load on the amp. Personally, I think your barking up the wrong tree wanting to use a pair of 15 inch black widow speakers with a Nashville head as you will be playing in mono. This is not as effective as using 2 small individual amps even if you are using them in mono. Just my opinion!

You should post a question to Mike Brown at Peavey and get his input on this.

Len,

I think you've got it backwards. Two 4 ohm
speakers in series should give you 8 ohms and
the same speakers in parallel should give
you a 2 ohm load. Let's not burn up an amp,

RR Womack is correct in his post.

Two 4 ohm speakers in series should give you 8 ohms and the same speakers in parallel should give you a 2 ohm load.

The reason the "Profex II can be used with a Stero effect is because it does have 2 output jacks, each able to send signal to "Left" or "Right". Use program A-25 (Kriss-Cross) to test this sound.

There is not a problem with using one 1501-4ohm BW with a Nashville 400 amp, but using two 4 ohm BW speakers would drop the impedance to a 2 ohm load. We do not advise that you operate the 400 at two ohms as the amp will run hotter and produce less wattage. The optimum speaker load is 4 ohms. So, no matter how two 4 ohm speakers are wired(series or parallel), the result is not a 4 ohm load.

There is a way around this though, and that is by incorporating the Peavey AutoMatch II transformer. This device will allow the amp to "see" a 4 ohm load and operate safely, but actually have an 8 ohm or 2 ohm load attached. You can purchase the Automatch II at your local authorized dealer. Please use our dealer locator. Here's the link;

Hope that this helps.

Mike, you could wire two 8 ohm speakers together to get a 4 ohm load, right?

Yes, you can wire two 8 ohm speakers in parallel for an 4 ohm load, but I don't have a recommendation for an 8 ohm BW speaker for steel applications.

I had it backwards...I meant two 4 ohm speakers wired in paralell drops the amps ohmage to 2 ohms. In any event, a Nashville 400 sould not be used at a 2 ohm load.
