I am using a Tube Works Blue Tube II preamp in my rack unit. I am experiencing some tone problems lately. I pick a string on approx. the 3rd fret in E9th and I get kind of a delayed, out of tune, secondary sound. Also, every time I turn off the unit, I get a whistle and sort of a pop. Could I have a bad tube? Would this also cause some distortion in the sound? Please advise.

It might me overtones from bad strings. I would try new strings and see if that does the trick. The Bluetube II is a very good unit.

That is exactly what it sounds like, overtones. I just replaced the strings on that neck but I spose it could still be a bad string.
