In the best tradition of my previously failed thinking; I made an Improvement in assembling these connectors.

I removed a small portion of the outer insulator to enhance the bend made by inserting the right angle grounding cap.
It did that and a lot more. It destroyed the structural integrity of the cable and allowed the inner insulator to crack and protrude creating an intermittent grounding of the signal conductor.

Going back to the proper installation method has elminated that problem.

Regards, Paul

Paul I also removed the outer covering just enough so I could fit that end in. It has worked okay for me so far. I also did this with one of my straight plugs and it worked okay. I didn't have to do it on all of them but a couple of them I swear would not fit into the top end of the plug. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why. Oh well the cables work good I haven't had any trouble yet(knock on wood).
