I am trying to make a re-pro pickup for a Gibi Ultratone. I know the dimensions for several Gibi pickups but the body cavity on this ultratone is smaller than most and the stock single coil bobbin will not fit in the hole. I am thinking that the normal Gibi steel single coil may still be used in this with only the magnets sitting in the hole but the string clearance is rather low to do so.
Anyone have one of these? Is the pickup dimension about 1-1/2" X 3-1/2"? Does the bobbin sit on top of the body?

Jason, I checked my ultratone last night and the pickup does appear to sit on top of the cavity. There is very little string clearance. The best I could check, there appears to be about .050 between the top of the poles and the bottom of the strings. Sorry, I forgot to measure the pickup, but it appears to be similar to the ones on Console Grandes of the same vintage. Hope this helps. E-mail me if you'd like more info. Rich
