Lawrence 505, 605, 705 and 805 Pickups

I have an assortment of these pickups and they do not have the model no. on them. How can I distinguish between these pickups? Does anyone know what the resistance would be if they were checked with an ohmmeter?

An ohmmeter won't do you much good on Lawerence pickups as they are not wound for a specific DC wire resistance. You may have to call Bill to find out for sure.

The 700 series has dual pole pieces (2 rows of 10 poles [10 stg] in parallel), I believe. The 600 series has 10 offset pole pieces (2 rows of 5 poles) arranged with the 5 treble pieces in one row and the 5 bass pieces in the other:

Can't help you with the 500 or 800 series. If you want to part with the 705, I'd be interested in purchasing or swapping.

The Lawrence L705 and L805 are both Humbucker pickups. They have dual coils and 2 stainless steel blades (no pole pieces).

DC Resistance measured in Ohm's:

L-705 = 20K
L-805 = 29.5K

Both models can be used on E9th but the L-805 was recommended for the C6th because it had a heavier sound. My father gave me his L-705 a few years ago. It is a super pickup and one that I hope to keep forever. If you use one of these pickups with a pedal that has a preamp such as a Hilton you may get some distortion because the signal level from the pickup is high. I just added a resistor to cut back the signal level a bit and it worked great.
