Anyone know the difference?
Are the 9002 better than the 922 or just different?
Also what is the steel mod in the 9002?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks, Dag

922 is an older version of the 9002 pre-amp. I'm not certain if the specs were changed, but do know the 9002 comes w/the steel modification on channel 2. The 922 can have the mod done on it however. www.genzbenz.com

While we're on the subject, what's the difference between the Real Tube II and the Blue Tube II? They look identical except one's blue. Does the Blue predate the Real Tube II?

I read somewhere on the forum that the Bluetube2 where like the Realtube with the steelmod, except for a little less gain on the channel1 (distortion channel).

If this is true then Bluetube would be one way to go.

We all know that a newer peice of gear not means a better peice of gear.

Paul Jr. uses Mesa Boogie Studio preamp - a mid eighties technology. I belive his Preamp to be 10 years old and he loves it.

Thanks, Dag

I use the Blue Tube II in my rack mount and am very satisfied with it. It puts out a very nice rich, full sound. I also have the Tube Works spring reverb and their amp. It is a great sounding combination.

Here`s the answer I got from Tubeworks about the mod

Quote:
--------------------------------------------

The steel mod increases the plate voltage of the tube on the clean channel so it can be played cleaner louder. There are also several other smaller adjustments to the gain structuring. We only do the steel mods here. The mod costs $100USD or you can order a new one with the mod already installed. Thank you for choosing Tube Works.
