Can any authorized Fender dealer order me
like a 'TwinReverb' reverb pan? How about MusiciansFriend?
Are just the pans available? Will it work in
a Peavey Vegas 400, and will it have that
Fender reverb quality?
What's the ballpark cost?

Thanks all.

I ordered a replacement for a Nashville 400 and it was perfect.

Thanks Mark,
I guess I'll have to get the ohms and Hzs
etc. stats on the Vegas 400 before ordering anything? The 2nd website, AccutronicsReverb
has quite a few sections and I haven't explored all of them yet.

Chip,
There should be a number stamped into
the top of the reverb tank itself.
That's the model # that you need when
you order.

Jay,
The reverb tank I have now is the one that
came with the Vegas 400. So the stamped number on the Peavey reverb tank is what they use in determining
the proper model FENDER reverb tank? Do I have this right?

Putting a Twin Reverb pan in a Peavey will not increase the reverb. It's not the pan but the way the internal electronic circuity is designed.

Plus a Twin Reverb unit will not work in a Peavey as they are different impedences.

Chip....no, putting a Fender tank in your Peavey won't give it that "Fender reverb" sound. Fender doesn't make reverb tanks anyway...they're made now by Accutronics and Belton. Not only the tank, but the circuitry in the reverb section (as Jack said) comes into play in the tone and duration (sustain) of the reverb. If your amp has a short (9") tank, then you can change it to a long (17") tank, and get some extra "sustain" or duration, but the "tone" of the reverb will not change. (This is what the old Fenders are noted for...that crisp sound and long duration.)

The tanks are available in medium and long duration models from Antique Electronic Supply" and are only about $20. (Get their catalog, it's loaded with "amp goodies"!) Since there are specific differences (jack grounding, impedance, and mounting orientation) I suggest that you ask Mike Brown which one might give you an improvement.

Jack & Donny,
And , of course, all my other wonderful Forumites here..........well....I was suspicious of this. I love this Vegas 400
with a 15" BW speaker, but I really am dissapointed with the reverb. I have an FXR
processor also, and with all of IT'S options,
still leaves me NOT HAPPY.

I am not a reverb nut. I want my sound, actually, to be just there on the reverb edge. You smart guys know what I mean. I can't seem to get it with either the stock Peavey reverb, or so far, anything coming out of the FXR.

I now practice with a very dry mode. As mentioned before, on the Forum, this is not such a bad way to practice; and I agree.

Hey Chip...Boss RV-3 man.
Ok here's the deal why. I haven't used digital effects in 8 years(I've tried'um all and don't care for the sound of them). Our Drummer stomps when he plays(big time) and if the stage has any movement to it at all...there goes the Fender tanks. I love the Fender reverb sound; but when I heard Lloyd Green was using a RV-3; I said I had to try it cause I know Lloyd is extreamly particular about a real sound. Well I bought one and "Oh my Gosh" a real reverb sound; that DON'T sound digital(synthetic is what I call it)...it sounds great to me and I use the RV-3 all the time now.
Just wanted to pass that by you and yall...and I used it with every amp I had to play through in Europe; and it even made the crappyest amps sound good>(but I won't name them....ha)

My one experience with an RV3 is exactly opposite of Ricky's. I had been curious about the RV3 and thought about buying one and jumped at the chance when A friend wanted me to try his RV3. I hooked it up in the effects loop of my Nashville 400, in place of my Boss DD-5. It was tinny and too bright with the RV3 that I tried. I didn't screw with the EQ on the amp or the controls on the RV3 and left it where he uses it with his Nashville 400 and his PP Emmons.

Thanks Ricky,
I know what you're getting at by 'that
digital sound'. It's reverb, ok I guess,
but sounds "harsh" and not warm, so to speak.

Where can one get a Boss RV-3? MusiciansFriend?
I'm sure they are probably pricey.
That's allright, those plastic cards
are always 'on stand-by'.

Very informative post, Ricky.
Thanks again.

Well Seymour has them at Steelguitarnashville...but I got mine from E-bay and you can get them off e-bay somewhere between 90.00--125.00....and it's a good buy.
Hey Jack the effect loop will do that. I hate those effects loops just for that reason; but when I ran through effects back in the good ole days....you needed to run it through the loop to cut down on hisssssss....but the RV-3 don't hissss....so I run it in-between my volume pedal and Amp.
Just like anything....you have to tweek on it before you find the right settings and combination/workings with the equipment you have to work with.
I can play you 4 master session CD's and 3 commercials(Bud light...Texas parks and Wildlife...Quaker State oil) with me playing through this unit....and it's the best sound I've ever heard.....just dial up your radio station and listen.

Ricky, the effect loop doesn't do anything to the Boss DD-5. I get the same sound in the effects loop or between the volume pedal and the amp input.

The effects loop in the Nashville 400 is pre EQ so it should be about the same as the input.

Like I said, I didn't screw with the settings on the RV-3 or my amp's EQ.

Hey Chip,
You might also try an RV-2, they don't make them anymore but they're not hard to find. It doesn't have the delay of the RV-3 but I like the reverb sound better after trying them both.
Also, if you buy a spring type replacement tank, you can choose between 2 spring or 3 spring with either long or medium delay. I've experimented with all of them and found that I like the 3 spring medium delay the most.
New Sensor sells them all.
Good luck

Thanks Cartwright,
I think I'll look around for these Boss RV's.

Were you at the last 2 NewEngland steel shows? I was hoping I might have run into you.
Oh well...next time.
