Mike,
I suggest that you clean the gap in the Black Widow speaker as there could be trash in the gap that would cause these symptoms. This can be done by removing the speaker from the amp and laying it face down on a flat surface. Then, loosen the 3 bolts on the magnet structure so that you can lift the magnet off of the basket assembly. You will then see the voice coil of the basket. Note; The basket assembly includes the frame, spider, cone, voice coil, dust cap,etc.. The magnet structure "gap" should be cleaned using either a high pressure air nozzle or by folding a piece of masking tape backwards(sticky side out) and inserting it into the gap of the magnet attract trash that may be in the gap. Reassemble the magnet structure to the basket assembly.
You might also clean all switching jacks(power amp in and return jacks) as they may have dirty contacts.
If you have questions concerning these procedures, please let me know and I will be glad to assist. I can be reached here at Peavey by phoning 1-877-732-8391 toll free.
